CBCT perfusion collaboration targets stroke angio suite
Siemens Healthineers and Cercare Medical are pairing Syngo DynaCT Multiphase with Neurosuite to support perfusion imaging during acute stroke interventions.
Siemens Healthineers and Cercare Medical have announced a global collaboration focused on cone-beam CT perfusion for acute stroke care. The companies said the agreement is intended to support perfusion-guided stroke treatment in the angiography suite.
The joint approach combines Cercare Medical Neurosuite with Siemens Healthineers’ Syngo DynaCT Multiphase. Cercare described Neurosuite as a vendor-neutral imaging software portfolio for automated perfusion analysis across CT, MRI, and cone-beam CT.
Syngo DynaCT Multiphase is a 3D acquisition protocol that can generate up to 10 cone-beam CT angiography phases, according to the announcement. Siemens Healthineers’ product page also describes the protocol as visualizing cerebral collateral vessels across up to 10 time points within 60 seconds.
The combined workflow is designed to provide perfusion and metabolic imaging directly in the angiography suite. The companies said this could reduce the need to move acute stroke patients from the angio room to another imaging modality during intervention.
Supported use cases include tissue viability assessment during and after thrombectomy. The announcement also cited detection of distal occlusions, microvascular disturbances, and the no-reflow phenomenon.
Cercare said its cone-beam CT perfusion solution includes automated CT perfusion maps and automated delineation of infarct core and hypoperfused volumes. Listed map outputs include CBF, CBV, MTT, Tmax, MaxIP, and TTP.
The scientific work behind the collaboration has involved Johannes Kaesmacher, MD, at Inselspital, Bern University Hospital in Switzerland, according to the announcement. Additional projects are underway at 3 other hospitals.
