Swoop portable MRI update moves toward Europe and U.K. rollout
The approvals cover Hyperfine’s next-generation portable brain MRI system and the latest Optive AI software, with European and U.K. commercialization planned for early Q3 2026.
Hyperfine has received CE Marking and U.K. Conformity Assessment approval for its next-generation Swoop portable brain MRI system and latest Optive AI software. The approvals enable commercialization across the European Economic Area and the U.K.
The next-generation Swoop system received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance in Q2 2025. Hyperfine said the updated scanner delivers improvements in image quality, workflow, and user experience compared with the previous generation.
Optive AI, cleared by the FDA in December 2025, includes a multidirection diffusion-weighted imaging sequence. The software acquires and averages images from multiple diffusion directions, using an approach similar to high-field MRI scanners, according to the company.
The DWI capability is intended to produce cleaner and more consistent images for stroke assessment. Hyperfine said the update is designed to improve detection of small strokes and support acute neurological care.
Existing users can access the software as a standalone upgrade. It is also included in the next-generation Swoop system.
Hyperfine’s regulatory-clearance page lists March 2026 CE certification for the Swoop system Model 2 in the European Union and UKCA certification for Model 2 in the U.K. It also lists Optive AI certification for use on Model 1 and Model 2 Swoop systems in both markets.
Commercialization of the next-generation Swoop system and latest Optive AI software in Europe and the U.K. is expected to begin early in Q3 2026 through Hyperfine’s distributor network across more than a dozen countries.
