RC Capital backs Captive’s PET-CT expansion

Captive Radiology said the investment will help scale turnkey imaging programs as demand grows for PET-CT, MRI, and theranostics-related services.

Captive Radiology has received a strategic growth investment from RC Capital, a healthcare-focused private equity firm. Financial terms were not included in the May 27 announcement.

The North Canton, OH-based company said the investment will support national expansion, service-capability growth, and wider access to diagnostic imaging and theranostic services. Captive said demand is increasing for advanced imaging, particularly in PET-CT and emerging theranostic applications.

PET-CT has become one of the company’s recent growth areas. Captive said it has expanded into PET-CT imaging for prostate cancer detection and monitoring, along with other applications across additional specialties.

Founded in 2003, Captive Radiology provides turnkey imaging services to hospitals, physician groups, and specialized healthcare facilities. Its offering includes project management, operations management, radiology staffing, quality assurance, and imaging equipment.

The company currently operates more than 30 imaging partnerships across nearly 20 states. Its website lists MRI and PET-CT among its service areas and describes its PET-CT programs as managed offerings that combine equipment, technologists, and operational support.

Dave Kelly will continue as an owner and leader of Captive Radiology, according to the announcement. Captive also said the partnership does not change existing leadership, day-to-day operations, or partner relationships.

RC Capital said the investment fits its focus on healthcare-services and medical-device businesses. The firm has more than 30 years of healthcare-investing experience, according to the announcement.

Captive said the new capital will help it launch more programs in more markets. Its direct announcement said the company expects to expand into new markets, invest in technology and operational support, and build infrastructure for customer and patient-service growth.
