Philips alliance spans WellSpan imaging network

The 7-year agreement names Philips as WellSpan’s preferred vendor across CT, MR, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and image-guided therapy.

Royal Philips and WellSpan Health have entered a 7-year strategic alliance covering imaging technology, clinical research, and product co-development across WellSpan’s care network.

The agreement covers WellSpan’s 12 hospitals, diagnostic imaging centers, and ambulatory surgery centers in Central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland.

Under the commercial portion of the alliance, Philips will serve as WellSpan’s preferred vendor across applicable imaging modalities.

The covered modalities include CT, MR, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and image-guided therapy.

Philips said the research agreement will focus on validating AI and digital tools in real clinical settings.

The research work will examine effects on throughput, cost, care delivery, and workflow efficiency, according to the company.

An innovation component will allow WellSpan and Philips Research to co-develop new products and features from Philips’ R&D pipeline.

WellSpan will serve as both a testing site and co-creator for those development efforts, according to the announcement.

The alliance builds on WellSpan’s existing use of AI in imaging. In December 2025, WellSpan said Aidoc had analyzed more than 200,000 patient cases across the system in the prior year and flagged more than 10,000 potentially critical findings.

Philips said the alliance is intended to create a research and co-development model for community health systems, where most U.S. patients receive care.
