Lead-212 supply pact links Eckert & Ziegler, Thor Medical

hor Medical will initially supply Pb-212 to Eckert & Ziegler for preclinical R&D, while the companies explore broader isotope-production and radiopharmaceutical-manufacturing integration.

Eckert & Ziegler and Thor Medical have signed a collaboration and supply agreement focused on lead-212 for targeted alpha therapy development. The companies said the agreement is intended to strengthen the supply and manufacturing base for Pb-212-based radiopharmaceutical programs.

Under the agreement, Thor Medical will initially supply lead-212 to Eckert & Ziegler for preclinical research and development. The companies will also evaluate how to combine Thor Medical’s isotope-production capabilities with Eckert & Ziegler’s radiopharmaceutical manufacturing infrastructure.

Pb-212 is being developed as an alpha-emitting isotope for targeted cancer therapies. Eckert & Ziegler said the isotope has drawn interest because of its in-body chemistry, clearance profile, and potential use in theranostic applications.

Thor Medical’s technology platform has been developed and validated through pilot operations at Herøya Industrial Park in Norway since early 2024. The company said it has delivered products to industry customers since 2025.

AlphaOne, Thor Medical’s first commercial production facility, is now in commissioning and is expected to begin production in Q3 2026. A 2025 final-investment-decision release put the plant’s estimated capital expenditure at NOK 200M.

The AlphaOne plant is expected to reach 15,000 patient doses after 3 years of operations and 25,000 patient doses after 5 years, without additional capital expenditure, according to Thor Medical’s 2025 project announcement.

Thor Medical reported in February that AlphaOne was on time and on budget, with Q3 production planned. The company also said its order backlog had reached approximately NOK 850M through multiyear sales agreements with new and existing customers.

Eckert & Ziegler said it combines radioisotope supply with radiopharmaceutical research, development, manufacturing, and distribution services. The company also said its CDMO services are designed for biotech and pharmaceutical firms that lack in-house radiopharmaceutical production capacity.
