Hermia dosimetry update enters Canadian market

Health Canada approval covers Hermia SIRT and Hermia Lung Lobe Quantification, extending clinical use of the molecular imaging platform in Canada.

Hermes Medical Solutions has received Health Canada approval for the latest release of Hermia, its molecular imaging and dosimetry software platform. The approval permits clinical use of the updated software in Canadian nuclear medicine and theranostics practices, according to the company.

The release covers tools for PET/CT, SPECT/CT, PET/MR, and RTDOSE workflows. Hermes said the update is intended for nuclear medicine image review, quantification, and dosimetry across multiple modalities.

Hermia SIRT is one of the newly approved features. The application is used for selective internal radiation therapy planning and verification, including CT-based liver and lung segmentation, live dose feedback, multiple activity-injection planning, automated 3D lung shunt calculation, and deformable registration for post-therapy assessment.

The SIRT tool is designed for liver tumors from primary or metastatic liver cancer. Hermes said the software supports Y-90 resin and glass microspheres and provides DICOM reporting for dose planning and verification.

Hermia Lung Lobe Quantification is also included in the Canadian approval. The tool combines computer-assisted CT segmentation of lung lobes with perfusion and ventilation SPECT images.

The lung module includes a segmentation algorithm, manual adjustment tools, advanced registration, and 3D-rendered lobe presentations, according to Hermes. The company said the workflow can support procedures such as lung volume reduction.
