Elucid launches Plaque-IQ lesion inspection tool
The new tool allows physicians to analyze plaque composition and burden at the lesion level in coronary and carotid vessels.

Elucid has launched a Lesion Inspection Tool for its Plaque-IQ software suite. The tool is commercially available for coronary and carotid plaque analysis, the company said.
The new feature allows physicians to assess plaque composition and plaque burden at the individual lesion level. Users can interrogate a lesion or region and receive quantitative results for the selected vessel segment.
Elucid said the tool can quantify high-risk plaque features, including lipid-rich necrotic core. The company said the data are intended to support individualized treatment strategies.
Plaque-IQ is powered by CT-Virtual Histology technology. The software noninvasively quantifies and classifies coronary and carotid plaque components using CT imaging, according to Elucid.
The FDA cleared Elucid PlaqueIQ under 510(k) K241524. The device is classified as a radiological image-processing system.
The FDA 510(k) summary describes PlaqueIQ as an image analysis application for evaluating CT angiography images of arterial vessels. The software is intended to support qualified clinicians in the noninvasive evaluation and assessment of plaque quantification and morphology.
Elucid said the platform is trained and validated against objective ground truth histology for plaque characterization. The company is also pursuing an FFRCT indication derived from its plaque algorithm.
