Tampa General Hospital has surpassed 15,000 organ transplants since launching its transplant program in 1974, according to the hospital.
The academic health system said the milestone has been reached by only a handful of transplant centers in the U.S.
The TGH Transplant Institute completed 889 transplants in 2024, ranking No. 1 in the U.S. by transplant volume. In 2025, the program completed 895 transplants and ranked among the top 5 in the nation for the 3rd consecutive year.
Its 2025 procedures included 519 kidney transplants, 284 liver transplants, 42 heart transplants, 42 lung transplants, and 8 kidney-pancreas transplants.
The program also performed 23 dual-organ transplants and 135 living-donor transplants in 2025, including 123 living-donor kidney transplants and 12 living-donor liver transplants.
TGH reported 1-year survival outcomes above national averages across lung, heart, liver, and kidney transplants, based on Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients rankings.
The institute used perfusion and advanced preservation technology in 72% of transplanted organs in 2025.
It is also the 1st hospital in Florida to use Organ Care System technology, a perfusion system that allows hearts, lungs, and livers to function outside the body during transport, according to TGH.
Procurement teams traveled 101,609 miles in 2025 to receive organ donations from across the U.S.
